(TAP) – The Criminal Division of the Military Court of Appeal sentenced on Tuesday former President Zine el Abidine Ben Ali to life in prison in cases related to the Revolution martyrs and wounded.

According to a press release of the general prosecutor of the Military Justice Directorate, 40 accused involved in the same cases have been sentenced from two to eight years in prison while others have been acquitted.

The judgments handed down on Tuesday morning by the Military Court of Appeal further confirmed the thesis of manslaughter and suspicion of complicity in these crimes.

The military public prosecutor filed for cassation against these decisions, according to the same press release.
