(TAP) – At a plenary session held Monday in parliament to hear Justice and Interior ministers about the statements of the defence group of martyrs Chokri Belaid and Mohamed Brahmi, Interior Minister Hichem Fourati refused the term “black room” used to name the place housing seized documents relating to the cases of assassination of martyrs Belaid and Brahmi.

Those documents are in a known place under the Directorate of Documentation and Information of the Interior Ministry, he explained.

In this regard, Fourati pointed out that these documents are in one of the records retention offices of the Directorate of Documentation.

This office is secured around the clock by surveillance cameras and security guards, he added.

The Minister of the Interior noted, in this regard, that during the inspection of the place where the documents were deposited, the investigating judge of the 12th office of the Judicial Counter-Terrorism Division mentioned in his report dated November 13, 2018, that documents relating to both cases were on the lower floor of the documentation and information division.

Speaking at a press conference on October 2, the defence group of Chokri Belaïd and Mohamed Brahmi reported the existence of a "dark room" within the Ministry of the Interior that contains evidence in connection with the assassination of these two martyrs.

MP Mohamed Brahmi was assassinated on July 25, 2013 outside his home a few months after the assassination of Chokri Belaid, secretary-general of the Democratic Patriots' Unified Party.
