(TAP) - The University of Manouba is co-organising on February 11 and 12, 2019, in co-operation with the French-Language University Agency of Tunis, the University of Quebec in Montreal, the University of Lausanne (Switzerland) and the Academy of Research and Higher Education (Belgium), the fourth seminar on the internationalisation of French-speaking higher education institutions on the theme "Means and Prospects of Openness on the North and South".

The meeting, which is attended by academics and university researchers representing a number of French, Belgian, Swiss, Canadian, Lebanese, Moroccan and Tunisian universities, is a platform for meeting and exchanging academic relationships and experiences.

At the opening session of the seminar, organised at the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Arts of Manouba, participants affirmed their support for co-operation programmes between the two shores of the Mediterranean.

In this regard, they called for strengthening the partnership and exchange of experiences between Tunisia's higher education institutions and their French-speaking counterparts in Europe and the Maghreb and improving the scientific research sector, through a comprehensive methodology of teaching, training and research in the various academic fields.

Jahina Ghrib, rector of the University of Manouba told TAP correspondent this seminar is part of the scientific dynamics of the University as well as in the context of openness to its international environment.

She added that the seminar will provide an opportunity to exchange academic experiences in various workshops dealing with issues such as the independence of universities from the challenges of universality, the quality of university partnerships, the independence of higher education institutions and ways of developing university networks.

"The university aims through these international meetings to achieve a set of objectives related to training, research, university life, to open up more on the university environment and to create opportunities for research and training for students and professor-researchers in order to provide them with better training, and therefore improve the quality of higher education, "she said.

She stressed that this seminar will be used to study ways of establishing summer school projects.

The University of Manouba has long been involved in various international relations, through the signing of a number of scientific and academic partnership agreements with universities and research centres in several countries of the world.
