(TAP) – Over 50 MPs signed the petition challenging the amendments to the electoral law, said Nidaa Tounes MP Fadhel Ben Omrane on Tuesday, adding that the number of signatures has broken all the records.

The challenge had been filed within deadlines to the Provisional Authority for the control of the constitutionality of laws, Ben Omrane assured TAP on the phone, adding that the petition concerns all the amended articles, which are full of irregularities and are in contravention with the international law.

Challenging a law in question requires the signature of 30 deputies before filing it to the Provisional Authority for the control of the constitutionality of laws, according to the provisions of Article 18 of the organic law related to the Authority.

The MPs who signed the petition belong to the parliamentary bloc of Nidaa Tounes, the Democratic bloc, allegiance to the nation, in addition to the Popular Front (before its dissolution) and MPs outside groups, Ben Omrane indicated.
