Smart Tunisia: 300 jobseekers recruited by 19 companies specialized in IT

(TAP) - Over 300 jobseekers were directly recruited, on Wednesday, by 19 companies in the information technology field on the occasion of the first edition of job fair dedicated to jobs in information technology, called "Smart Tunisia Job Fair".

The fairs is an initiative launched by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in collaboration with the Tunisian Association for Communication and Technology and "Tounes ta3mal" Microsoft platform Tunisia.

"The fair provides the possibility of a direct meeting between 19 companies and 300 job seekers from all regions of the country, including those registered in the programme" forsati "launched by the Ministry in the governorates of Beja and Zaghouan" said Zied Laadhari, Minister of Training and Employment at a conference held on this occasion.

In turn, Noomane Fehri, Minister of Information and Communications Technologies said that this fair is part of the "Tunisia-smart" to create 50 thousand jobs for university graduates during the next 5 years.

This project is a pillar of the national strategy "digital Tunisia 2020", he said, adding that it is the result of a public-private partnership.

The companies pledged to provide 4,000 job positions this year, he announced.

According to the Minister, the project aims to make Tunisia a technological centre, encouraging investment in basic services and improve the infrastructure sector to ensure the promotion of quality of connection to the Internet.
