(TAP) - The Prosecutor's Office at the Judicial Counter-Terrorism Division has ordered the detention of 6 individuals in custody, following the anticipatory operation carried out by the El Aouina National Guard Unit of Investigation into Terrorist Crimes the day before in Kasserine.

A terrorist was killed during the operation, according to the Interior Ministry.

In a statement to TAP, the deputy public prosecutor at the Tunis Court of First Instance and spokesperson for the Judicial Counter-Terrorism Division, Sofiene Selliti said that the terrorist shot dead during the operation has been under investigation for six months, adding that investigations are still ongoing.

The Interior Ministry announced in a statement Monday the neutralization of a terrorist "branded dangerous" suspected of being a leader of terrorist organisation "Daesh"; he had been hiding on the heights of Mount Salloum since 2014.

The terrorist was shot dead during a security operation conducted in Hassi El Frid in the governorate of Kasserine.

The operation was carried out in co-ordination between the prosecutor's office of the Judicial Counter-Terrorism Division and the El Aouina National Guard Unit of Investigation into Terrorist Crimes.

According to the same source, a second terrorist was wounded and another person, in connection with the terrorist group, was arrested during the same operation.

Ammunition, equipment used in making home-made bombs and explosive belts that the terrorists intended to use for terrorist attacks during the month of Ramadan were seized during the operation.
