WMF World Cup 2017 - draw set for September 6 in Tunis

(TAP) - The draw for the World MiniFootball Federation (WMF) World Cup (Tunisia-2017) scheduled for October 6 to 15 in Nabeul, will be made on September 6 in Tunis, President of the Tunisian MiniFootball Federation, Achraf Ben Salha said at a press conference on Friday.

"Tunisia is ready to host the tournament, notably after the rental of the land which should host the games.

Its arrival in Tunis is scheduled at the end of this month and the installation will take place over a dozen days," said the president of the federation.

He added that 20 countries have so far confirmed their participation in the World Cup, including the United States, Romania, Russia, Germany, Hungary and Spain.

Ben Salha said that the opening ceremony scheduled for October 6 will include an exhibition match between African football stars and world stars and will be hosted by Senegalese El Hadji Diouf, ambassador of mini football in Africa.

The former Liverpool striker stressed, on the occasion, "the need to combine all the efforts for the success of this important international event which is held for the first time in Africa.”

Besides Tunisia, the African continent will be represented by Libya, Senegal, Côte d'Ivoire, South Africa and Somalia.

The first edition of the WMF World Cup was held in 2015 in the United States and was won by the host country.
