(TAP) - Secretary of State for Migration and Tunisians Abroad, Adel Jarboui, on Wednesday, expressed Tunisia's support for efforts and initiatives aimed at consolidating cultural rapprochement aimed to strengthen the stability and social cohesion of migrants in host countries.

In his remarks at a regional meeting on migration held from October 30 to November 1 in Morocco, Jarboui stressed the shared responsibility between countries of origin and host countries.

The importance is to put in place strategies to protect the rights of migrants and their families in accordance with national laws and international conventions.

The Secretary of State recalled Tunisia’s commitment to take the necessary measures to fight against trafficking in persons in accordance with international standards.

The organic law 2016-61 relating to the prevention and the fight against the trafficking of the people aims to cope with any form of exploitation of people, in particular women and children, the secretary of state pointed out.

The three-day meeting aims to develop, before the next AU Summit, an "African Agenda on Migration" to be presented as an African roadmap.

The regional meeting saw the participation of representatives and ministers of African States, various structures of the AU and international organisations including the UN and the International Organisation for Migration.
